I looked after a friend's dog for a few days recently. He's a well trained little fellow.... and I when i talked to him he always listened. When i took him into the woods to let him off his lead or I grabbed a stick he'd often get quite excited and respond back! Hence the cartoon..
Well...it's summertime in England (or at least the calendar, if not the weather, says it is) so I thought I'd start my cartoon blog with one that has a seasonal flavour (deckchairs have always given me a sense of impending carnage..) My little character seems a lot more gangly and elongated than usual in this sketch. I happened to start drawing it like that and just stayed with it - I thought it might help exaggerate the 'flying limbs' in the final scene. I guess you get all sorts of body types in cartoons too... Urbis Building, ManchesterThe National Football Museum in Manchester is a must for football enthusiasts, containing the world's most important collection of football memorabilia. From the match ball used in the 1966 World Cup Final... to Maradonna's "Hand of God" Argentina shirt or George Best's wardrobe... there's plenty to see. Its all exhibited inside the state of the art Urbis building (which is now Manchester's most frequently photographed piece of architecture). As if all that wasn't enough...they now sell our football greeting cards too :0).
